List of Fabrics We Can Dye

1. Plant (cellulose) fibers: include cotton, linen, rayon, hemp, jute & burlap. Burns like paper.

2. Animal (or protein) fibers: include silk, wool and feathers. feathers. If burned will usually extinguish itself.

3. Synthetic (or man-made) fibers: include acetate, nylon, spandex, lycra. Burned residue will form a hard black bead that cannot be crushed. Please be careful as polyester will also produce the same result.

Satin, Sateen, Organza, Jacquard, etc all describe the weave of a fabric and not the fabric content.

What We Do Not Dye:

	Polyester/polyester blend fabric
	Leather
	Suede
	Fabrics, garments, drapery and slipcovers with an unknown fibre content ( a test for $10 may be done)
	Finished garments (suits and pants), made of wool and wool blends
	Outerwear fabrics and clothing that may be waterproof &/or treated to resist water and severe weather conditions
	Skeins of fibres (weavers, farms, post manufacturing of fibres)
	There is not such a thing as white dye. We cannot dye items white.
	We do not dye white/cream to black, nor can we guarantee pure black.
	No purses and handbags.
	Nothing attached to wood or anything else. Fabric only please.

Caring for your Dyed Garments

We recommend washing all dyed garments in a delicate cycle using cold water and a mild detergent (Ivory Snow or Zero) for longest life of colour. Garments may also be dry cleaned unless otherwise noted. Although all of our after dyed fabrics and garments are fixed and washed until the water runs clear we do suggest washing your newly dyed fabrics separately for the first 2-3 washes.

Dye Pro Services carry a wide assortment of only top quality fabric dyes sourced from all over the world. We are constantly sourcing new products and these dyes and chemicals are tested thoroughly for light and wash fastness before we use them on our clients items.

Sampling Before Vat Dyeing

Dye Pro Services can dye yardage to a maximum of 25 meters at one time (based on a cotton shirt weight fabric). Please note our pricing of dyeing yardage does not include sampling. Should we receive fabric and a colour swatch we will go into the vat and try to get as close as possible to the colour. Should you wish fabric sampling to be done first please refer to our manufacturing sampling guide. Dye Pro Services does reserve the right to sample the fabric (at cost to the client) should we feel this is necessary, and we will contact the client prior to this being done. Without sampling we try to get as close as possible to the swatch colour we receive.

Frequently Asked Questions

	Can you dye my blue dress white? We cannot dye fabrics white
	Do you guarantee an exact match? We cannot guarantee an exact match based on our process of dyeing a garment, because we cannot sample the colour formula beforehand. We do our very best to get as close to the desired colour as possible.
	Do you guarantee your work? We can’t guarantee our work in the sense of factoring in all of the potential risks involved. All of these risks cannot be pre-determined before being dyed. Please see our consent and waiver form.
	Will the threads, beads, lace and sequins dye? Polyester thread is almost always used to construct clothing. Polyester thread will not dye. Be aware of this if your garment has top stitching and you are moving from a light colour to a dark colour. Most notions will not dye as dark as the fabric will.
	Will the buttons on my garment dye? Plastic and wood buttons usually dye or stain as a nice complement to the re-dyed garment. Metal buttons may or may not dye. Buttons may be lost in the dyeing process, especially if they are loose, please check these thoroughly before sending to us for dyeing.
	Will dyeing cover the stains? Please be aware that dyes do not work like paints. Dyes will not cover stains, they will make them look darker. You cannot use dye to "paint over" a previous colour without the original dyed colour having an effect for what the outcome of the new colour will be.
	Can you turn my yellow dress blue? Dyes are very transparent in the sense that if a garment is blue and you add enough yellow dye, the fabric may turn green. The fabric would not, however, turn yellow.
	Can you make my brown shirt white? Only natural fabrics can be stripped of their original colour, but this can only occur at a relatively high heat so in ready-made garments shrinkage can be a factor. Stripping fabric colour may not result in the fabric turning white or cream, as sometimes the fabric could turn bright orange, bright yellow, or another unpredictable colour. It is very difficult to speculate what the stripped colour will be without first sampling this process.
